A group of ten sentenced of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced charges of spreading untruths regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.

A persistent false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's biological sex.

Their lawsuit states that Owens ignored all credible evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.

The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
