One 60-day cruise through Australia has been cancelled days after the fatal incident of an older woman who was abandoned by the ship on a isolated tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the vessel, but broke off from the group for a pause. The vessel sailed away leaving her and returned later that day after the ship staff discovered the woman was not present.

A major search operation located her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the event, in coordination with law enforcement and the state coroner.

Head of the voyage organizer said that guests and crew on the vessel were told that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and prior engine troubles".

"Based on limited facts we have been informed, it looks that there was a failure of responsibility and common sense," she stated.
